Forthcoming Titles Lists
African American Studies, 2010: Recent & Forthcoming Titles. Choice, v.47, no. 06, February 2010.

This issue of Choice marks the eighth annual installment of African American studies in the popular “Forthcoming” series.  Regularly appearing each year in the February issue, this selected list, like the others in this series, is designed to provide information on new or about-to-be-published books of potential relevance for academic libraries.

In compiling this list, publishers were invited to submit title information for their 2010 publications.  Editors monitored publisher catalogs, Web sites, and book vendor Web pages to identify additional relevant titles.  This year’s list represents offerings from sixty publishers.  The bibliographic information was supplied directly by publishers or obtained from publisher catalogs and promotional materials; data include anticipated release date, price, and ISBN when these were known.  Estimated prices and dates are followed by “e.”  As in all lists of this type, release dates, prices, and even titles are subject to change at a later date.

The 173 titles are arranged by the usual Choice categories.  As with last year’s list, history titles again make up nearly one-third of the listings, with fifty titles.  After a bumper crop of literature titles last year, the publishing output returns to form for 2010, with sociology’s twenty-eight titles making up the second largest category.  Humanities again show a large publishing output, with sixteen titles each for literature, music, and performing arts.

This feature would not exhibit the breadth and depth that it does without the participation of the publishers who responded to our call for submissions.  Choice offers sincere thanks to all who contributed to this list.
